When I first saw trailers for this game, I remember being really hyped for it and was looking forward to playing it. I will say I like Mario better, mainly due to the series being more consistent with it's quality (sure, it does repeat itself a lot, but I haven't really played any main series Mario games that weren't on the same level as, say, Sonic 06 or Rise of Lyric), but the first Sonic game was really one game that helped me get into the industry as a whole, with some of my other favorite games of the series being Sonic 2, 3 & Knuckles and even Lost World.
So, if you haven't known already, I'm a pretty huge fan of the Sonic series as a whole. Sonic's friends attempt to throw Sonic a party for his birthday, however an entity known as the Time Eater ruins it and places Sonic's friends in different points and freezes them in the past, leaving Sonic to save his friends, while teaming up with his past self to do so. This does not reflect the opinions of the rest of the community. This review comes from the opinions of the poster himself. And while I already reviewed the first game (both the original and the terrible GBA remake), I think it'd probably be a good idea to take a look at the Sonic game that was made for his 20th anniversary, Sonic Generations. Why is that important? Well, 25 years ago today, Sonic the Hedgehog made his debut on the Sega Genesis (mega drive if you don't live in the united states), starting off a whole series of games spanning across different genres and consoles. This review does not apply to the 3DS version.
